With immediate effect the UAE recently published an update relating to immigration policies, procedures on documentation.
For foreign nationals wanting to obtain UAE work permits and residency visas all supporting documentation such as: birth, educational degree and marriage certificates etc. must now be translated into Arabic and submitted upon application. Previously such documents were accepted in English or Arabic however, it is a mandatory requirement to have all the supporting documents available in Arabic.
This regulation currently applies to Dubai and Abu Dhabi however, it is anticipated to become applicable across all of the other Emirates. For applications that are submitted by businesses within one of the UAE’s free zones they are not presently affected.
Therefore, it is important that businesses, employers and sponsors factor costs for Arabic translations. Secondly it is essential to allocated appropriate lead time for obtaining work authorisation and residency for the UAE.
Visa Arrangement between the UAE and Ukraine
Negotiations amongst the UAE and Ukraine has resulted in a joint agreement for visa exceptions between the both countries. As a result, Ukrainian passport holders will be able to get a visa upon arrival into the UAE. This will now ease business travel in the UAE whereas visa on arrival holders can engage in business activities such as: attending conferences, seminars, meetings and business research. The implementation date is yet to be published and we will update you once this has been declared.
